Dear Maa,
When I think about mothers, especially you, I am reminded of the quiet, unseen sacrifices that shape a child’s life. You are the most beautiful woman I know with a truly golden heart. You bring happiness into my life in the simplest yet most powerful ways. You are my biggest inspiration.
You gave so much of yourself without ever asking for anything in return. Be it your dreams, your time, your comfort. You placed them gently aside so that ours could grow. When I was younger, I didn’t fully understand this. I didn’t see the long hours, the silent strength, the way you carried everything so we could feel safe and loved. But now, I do.

I understand that love isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it looks like waking up early, staying up late, worrying without words, and believing in someone even when they don’t believe in themselves. You have always been that for me.
People say mothers are special, and they are right. But what makes you extraordinary is not just that you are my mother, but that you have been my constant strength, my quiet shelter, my unwavering support. No matter what I face, you take away the dark clouds of my worries, sometimes just with a hug. In that moment, everything feels lighter, safer, and full of hope again.
You are the one who gave me life and taught me to stand on my own feet. Like the sun, you chase away darkness and fill my world with warmth, happiness, and love. You are my shelter, my home. You protect me from life’s storms and guide me whenever I lose my way. Your strength and wisdom continue to shape me every day. To me, you are truly a superwoman. I deeply admire how beautifully you manage both your personal and professional life with such grace and balance.

I realise now that love should never be assumed or left unspoken. So today, I want to say thank you.
For every sacrifice, I didn’t notice.
For every moment you stood by me.
For believing in me even before I believed in myself.
You have been my first cheerleader, my safest place, and my greatest strength.
I have learnt to live life to the fullest from you, maa…
I have learnt to never give up on myself or my dreams from you maa…
I have learnt to believe and invest my heart in friendships from you maa..
I have learnt to stay strong mentally with or without family support from you, maa..
I have learnt the value of time, hard work, and commitment from you maa…
I have learnt to be a mother from you maa…
And beyond everything you have taught me, you have shown me what it means to love without conditions, to give without counting, and to stand tall even when life feels overwhelming. In your quiet ways, you have built a world around us that feels safe, warm, and full of possibilities.
Even on your hardest days, you never let us feel your struggles. You smiled through your worries, held us close through your fears, and kept moving forward with a strength I continue to admire more with each passing year. I only hope that one day,
I can carry even a little of that strength within me.
I hope I can reflect even a fraction of the love you have given me.
I love you to the moon and back a thousand times or more.
With all my love,
Shilpa
