RECAP – Newlyweds Mohit and Maya settle into their Mumbai
home, but strange events begin to unfold. Maya inexplicably recalls a childhood
memory of Mohit’s that she shouldn’t know. Mohit’s unease grows when Maya wears
a white saree with a red bindi, strikingly resembling Kusum from his past. A
worried call from Mohit’s mother about mysterious incidents in their hometown
deepens the mystery. Mohit senses something is amiss, feeling the eerie
presence of Kusum creeping into their lives.

Calling Boral Uncle

Mohit could barely sleep that night, tossing and turning, eager for the night to end. Fortunately, the next day was Saturday—a holiday. At 6:00 am, he messaged his dad to send Boral Uncle’s phone number, unable to find it in his contac

Maya woke up, her usual self, and brought him a cup of piping hot tea before heading off to make breakfast.

With shaky hands, Mohit dialed Uncle’s number. After a few rings, Aunty answered. She recognized Mohit immediately, and after exchanging brief greetings, he asked about Kusum. Aunty suddenly started crying—what she said next took Mohit by surprise. A few months after moving from Bolangir, Kusum had married into a wealthy business family. Life was good for a while, but then Kusum died under mysterious circumstances. Aunty cried as she recounted the story; both Uncle and Aunty had been making frequent trips to the police station for the investigation, but the case had been hushed up.

Mohit had tears in his eyes as he hung up the phone. He was determined to visit Dhenkanal soon and get to the bottom of the matter.

The Business Trip

On Monday, as soon as Mohit and Maya reached the office, Mohit’s manager approached him. “Mohit, the presentation you prepared for your Pune-based client was very well received. You’ll need to travel to Pune on Wednesday to present it in person. Great job!”

Mohit was elated as his colleagues congratulated him. However, when he glanced over at Maya, she seemed distant and wasn’t smiling. Mohit decided he would ask Amit from admin to book two tickets—he’d cover Maya’s cost. The presentation was important to Mohit, as he had worked tirelessly on it. He made all the travel arrangements, and the rest of the day was spent in excited anticipation.

Tuesday was all about packing and preparing for the trip. Unexpectedly, Maya didn’t seem excited.

The Day of the Flight

On Wednesday, the alarm went off at 4:00 am. Mohit woke up quickly and tried to wake Maya. Their flight was at 9:00 am, and they needed to be at the airport by 7:00 am. But as soon as he touched her, he knew something was wrong—she was shivering and running a high fever. She had been fine when she went to bed.

Mohit was torn—should he leave Maya in this condition to go on his trip, or miss what seemed like his best chance at a promotion? He quickly dismissed the idea of leaving her; Maya needed him. He rushed her to a clinic as soon as it opened.

Mohit’s boss was disappointed but understood the situation. He called the client to request a new date for the presentation.

The Snag in the Flight

At the clinic, the doctor was puzzled by Maya’s high fever since she had no other symptoms. He prescribed some medication and advised them to wait two days before considering any tests.

As they drove back, Maya suddenly said, “It’s good I fell ill, Mohit.” Mohit was taken aback and was about to ask her what she meant when his phone rang—it was Akash.

Akash was almost shouting, “Mohit, are you okay? I just saw the news that the Pune-bound flight collided with a tug tractor on the runway. It’s such a strange accident…”

Before Akash could continue, Mohit assured him he was fine and explained that he hadn’t made the trip that day. Mohit was baffled by the coincidence.

He hung up the phone and looked at Maya, who said, “Mohit, let’s go for a yummy chole bhatura breakfast.” They were near Chacha’s Chole Bhatura stall, a favorite spot, and Maya no longer appeared sick.

Things were becoming increasingly complicated, and Mohit knew he needed to visit Dhenkanal soon—right after his rescheduled Pune trip.
