She looked resplendent in the red attire. The mirror reflected the vermilion in the middle parting of her hairline with the red dot dazzling on her forehead.
He looked dapper in the traditional silk outfit. Their eyes twinkled with tears. He smiled, she blushed on their wedding anniversary.

They woke up to a bright, spring day, and got ready after their endearment to celebrate as per their plans. The morning was a private affair – shopping, lunch and back home in the afternoon for wild lovemaking. The evening was organized by family and friends for their first anniversary celebrations.
Their playful minds couldn’t keep their eyes and hands to themselves inside the car. They desperately wanted to reach home for their afternoon rendezvous. From a lane, a truck slowly manoeuvred to the highway and their car sped and dashed head-on. It was too late for the brakes applied.
With each passing day, the criticality of their survival rose and fell. From shifting to different speciality hospitals to consulting super specialists, it was a hellish three months of physical and psychological agony for the families. At last, a ray of hope sprinkled with their regained consciousness. The families thanked the Almighty and rejoiced.
Days passed, it was a fresh start and new love flourished. They gradually adjusted to their changed lifestyles with a determination to overcome the hardships and build an everlasting bond.

Today, was their thirtieth anniversary. Her wrinkled hands caressed his distorted face and planted a kiss on his hollow cheek.
“You’ve mastered the art of draping a saree on me.” She beamed.
He had a menacing look, but she comprehended from years of togetherness that it resembled a smile.
“Leeeets gow.” He muttered and swerved her wheelchair from their bedroom and headed towards the temple.
