A nation steeped in differential narrative and
Caught in the perilous cross currents of,
Divergent philosophies, emotions, religions, and politics,
Could not have survived and thrived in this long race,
If we, her citizens haven’t put our heart in the right place.
And that is to value our hard-earned independence,
Our right to live, eat, pray, love, and work,
In our very own jurisprudence.
Once we had been subjugated,
And our voice was relegated to the background.
Our basic rights were mercilessly crushed,
By the divisive politics of a foreign power profound.
Though we have come a long way since then,
We have solemnly vowed to ourselves,
To never forget those moments of our ancestors’ humiliation and pain.
Hence our unity would always,
Be the alpha and the omega of our quintessential sanctity.
A unity that has managed to portray a unique collage of diversity.
So let our nation bask in the glory of her freedom under our steadfast vigilance,
Marking the eightieth of her unchallenged independence.
