And for Every Heart That Is Missing Their Dad Today
I know today is incredibly hard for you.
Your heart must feel so heavy, my little girls.
Everywhere you look – on social media, in the ads, on TV;
everyone is celebrating their dads.
Smiling in photos. Sharing memories.
And I know you must be feeling the ache of it,
thinking, “I wish my dad was here.”
That wish isn’t small.
Because nothing – absolutely nothing – can fill the void he left.
Not now. Not ever. Not by anyone.
The wound is still fresh, still painfully raw.
It still doesn’t quite feel real, does it?
I know you wish you could have just one more moment.
One more hug. One more “I’m proud of you.”
And I wish I could give you that.
But know this …
Even though he isn’t here the way you want him to be…
He lives on.
He lives on in the sweet memories you carry of him.
He lives on in the laughter you shared.
He lives on in the quirks you inherited from him.
He lives on in the values he gave you.
He lives on in the strength you show when things get hard.
He lives on in the way you care for each other.
He lives on in your dreams — the ones he believed in with all his heart.
He lives on inside you.
You are his legacy.
And that is something time can never touch.
If you feel up to it – remember the beautiful parts.

His warm smile. His silly jokes.
The way he used to cover your books before school.
The way he stood by you, quietly but always there.
He gave everything he had – for you.
He was, and always will be, your biggest cheerleader.
I believe he is watching over you.
Not from some faraway place — but close.
Right here. In your heart. In your strength.
In the way you show up for each other, every single day.
And I know — he would want to see you happy.
He would want you to live boldly, love deeply,
and always remember how deeply you were loved by him.

So cry if you need to. Smile when you can.
But never forget…
He is with you. Always. Always.
With all my love, Deepa Athai
