Jewel In The Sunrise

This poem celebrates India's Independence Day by reflecting on the nation's journey from its past as the "Golden Bird" to its present freedom, earned through the sacrifices of countless brave souls. It honors the legacy of unsung heroes and emphasizes the importance of continuing their mission to uphold India's greatness.

Fluttering in the breeze and unfurling like a rose

It’s our Tiranga rejoicing on her Independence Day; like a jewel in the sunrise she glows!

Once upon a time called Sone ki Chidiya,

This is my Hindustan, my Bharat, my India

She lives free today, a reward for the painstaking battle fought

To chase away the adversary and regain our former glory from naught

Brave were those soldiers, selfless were those sons

Patriotism ran in the families when they sacrificed children to the gallows and the military guns

Words fall short and emotions run unbidden

Courage was at its zenith for the exploited and downtrodden

The sun dims a notch and the moon hangs low;

The stars shine brighter to honour the heroes of yore

Some unsung and some unnamed,

Some unnoticed but their contributions were great

We live in a free India as we bow down to those souls

Who watch us from the heavens above, their descendants achieving their goals

Upholding their name should be our sole aim

Taking India’s magnificence to the top of the charts should be our only game!
